Erik moved to London in 2004. He came over to study piano performance post-graduately at the then Trinity College of Music, having completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Studies at the University of Malta, his country of birth.

Erik loves JS Bach, Ravel and Debussy, Carlos Jobim and Joao Gilberto, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Lady Gaga, RuPaul, Italian 70’s and 80’s ballads, Pink Martini, Elsa Dreisig and Judy Garland. On his phone you’ll also find Indian devotional music, Sicilian creole songs and mantra chanting.

He has given solo recitals, accompanied singers and performed chamber music in the UK, in Malta, in Turkey and in Tunisia.

His pursuits are as eclectic as his musical tastes. He has written two ballets (The Little Mermaid, 2016 / The Happy Prince, 2018), a children’s musical and some solo songs for voice and piano for television.

His love of ballet started at the age of 16 when he started working part-time at the College of Jazz in Malta as a ballet repetiteur. Ballet work was his first source of income in the UK and allowed him to support himself whilst studying at Trinity. He continues to work in ballet classes to this day.

In his spare time, Erik has been developing his vocal technique with private tutors since joining the London Symphony Chorus four years ago. The choir is based at the Barbican and sings under the leadership of Sir Simon Rattle in affiliation with the LSO. It specialises in large scale symphonic choral music and tours two or three times a year.
